    That's what Portland jazz guitar luminary Dan Balmer calls Rod Furlott...and when you hear Rod play, you'll know why Dan said it. Over time, Rod has come to be regarded as one of the Portland area's best players and instructors.

    Rod has the distinction of being the first person ever to earn a Jazz Guitar degree from the University of Oregon, in 1991. He shares his vast storehouse of musical knowledge with others by teaching guitar privately to students of all ability levels and ages.

    Rod not only plays guitars; he also builds them, and performs exclusively on instruments of his own design and construction.
